One of the most exciting pieces of travel-related news to come out of Paris Fashion Week is that the much-hyped suitcase collaboration between LVMH label-mates Rimowa and Dior is finally available for purchase.

If you’re as obsessed with suitcases as we are, you either already have your own beloved Rimowa, or look on with envy as the classic aluminum cases rush by you in the airport. After all, Rimowa's suitcases are known to survive plane crashes and war zones, and last through generations of travel within the same family.

The three suitcase sizes include a large suitcase, a carry-on size, and a handheld case.

The brand's latest collaboration with Dior (after a recent partnership with Supreme) is a natural fit. While Dior shares Rimowa's reputation for quality, Dior's artistic director Kim Jones is a self-described travel obsessive, having created travel products for every brand he's ever worked with, from Nike to Louis Vuitton to Dior today.

If you consider yourself a travel aficionado, you won't want to miss the rare accompanying process video that peeks into how Rimowa's historic suitcases are created in the factory. The film shows the entire journey from initial sketches and wheel inspections all the way through to sheets of aluminum being stamped, cut and folded to fit Rimowa's iconic suitcase mold.

The Dior and Rimowa collaboration was first announced in summer 2019, and the suitcases come in a variety of sizes; a carry-on bag (with matching luggage belt), a trunk, and a hand case, all adorned with a shimmering Dior motif. There's also a brand new shape, the Personal, a clutch-sized aluminum case for your iPhone, wallet, and make-up. The carry-on retails from $3,720, the trunk from $4,230, and the hand case from $3,080, while the Personal will set you back $2,440.

The bags were rolled out in Dior and Rimowa stores in Paris, Japan and Miami late last year. The whole line is now available for purchase in Dior and Rimowa boutiques worldwide, and online as well. Start keeping an eye out at airports—or let's be honest, first class lounges—near you.
